Finding your place in a world not designed for you is difficult. I’m Carlos Castillo, an LPC providing a space where you don’t have to translate your experience to be understood.
I moved from Mexico to Laredo, Texas, when I was ten. Growing up in a border town meant living between two cultures and languages. I spent my time around people who didn’t fit into standard boxes—misfits who were often misunderstood by their own communities.
My approach was shaped by my mentor, Dr. Rudolph. She was an older Midwestern woman whose practice focused on the importance of presence and compassionate listening. She taught me that the most powerful tool a therapist has isn’t a complex theory, but the ability to truly be present with another person.
Focusing on being truly heard, not just analyzed.
Bilingual support that understands the "outsider" experience.
Moving past the shame of "bad habits" or past mistakes.
Practical tools for navigating a world not built for you.
After graduation, I stepped away from therapy for a few years to find my own way. I eventually returned to the field to work with Federal Probation, helping individuals reintegrate into society. That experience changed everything. I realized that many of the people I worked with weren’t “broken”—they were just isolated, navigating a world that wasn’t built for their specific brains or life circumstances.
Today, I use that experience to help others who feel like the odd man out find their footing.
You don’t need a therapist who just nods and takes notes. You need someone who understands the friction of living in a world that doesn’t always make sense to you.
I focus on four primary areas where “misfits,” professionals, and neurodivergent adults often struggle the most.
Navigating the pressure to be a perfect husband, father, or professional is heavy. We move past the anger and isolation to find who you are outside of these roles, helping you manage stress without losing yourself.
Traditional advice often fails brains that process the world differently. I provide affirming support that stops trying to "fix" you and starts building practical strategies for a world not designed for your brain.
Living between cultures or identifying outside the norm often feels like constant translation. I offer bilingual support for the Hispanic, immigrant, and LGBTQ+ experience, where you are finally seen and understood.
Whether you are a new graduate or a veteran facing total burnout, major shifts are stressful. I provide solution-based care to help you navigate career changes and professional exhaustion with a firm, clear path.
Therapy shouldn’t feel like a mystery. I combine clinical training with years of navigating life’s hardest transitions—from federal probation to personal identity shifts. These figures represent the foundation of the work we do together.
Pick a time on my calendar for a free video chat to see if we match for your own specific life goals.
We meet for the first time to discuss your history and build a clear plan that works for your brain.
Every few weeks we look at your goals together to make sure you feel steady and see real growth now.
You move forward with new tools and a steady hand to help you navigate a world not made for you yet.
No pressure. No commitment. Just a chance to see if we’re a good fit to work together.
I work through the Alma platform to accept most major insurance plans. If you are paying out-of-pocket, we can discuss bi-weekly sessions or a sliding scale to help fit therapy into your budget.
That is exactly what the free 20-minute consultation is for. It is a no-pressure way for you to see if you feel comfortable with my style and voice before you commit to a full session.
We’ll go over your history and identify the "root cause" of what you are feeling. By the end of the hour, we will have a clear roadmap for our work together over the next few months.
Yes. Research shows that telehealth is just as effective as in-person therapy. It also provides more privacy and flexibility, which many of my clients prefer for their busy schedules.
Most of my individual clients see significant, sustainable progress within 3 to 6 months of weekly sessions. For EAP clients, we usually focus on solving one specific issue over 6 to 10 sessions.
